Summer Reading Challenge Launch Event

headless harryCome and join us from 10.30am, Saturday 20th July at the Central Library for the launch of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

Our theme this year is  ‘Creepy House.’ Children taking part in the Creepy House challenge are involved in the story of a gang of young detectives, investigating clues and following the trail to solve the whodunit mystery.

Children can explore The Awful Upstairs, The Frightful First Floor and The Sinister Cellar of the Creepy House, meeting lots of characters on the way including Twilight Tim, Headless Harry, Scarecrow Sid and a rather unusual cat.

Swindon Dance will be leading us all in an interactive ‘Thriller’ dance at 10.30am.

Come along in fancy dress – best costume wins a prize.

A special themed storytime will be held at 11.00am, followed by fancy dress judging.

From 11.30 -12.30 there will be hands on sessions with real life creepy-crawly bugs courtesy of Minibeast Mayhem.

Face painting will be available throughout the morning.

No booking necessary, just turn up on the day – space is however limited and sessions will be allocated  on a first come first served basis.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
