Artist in Residence, 10.00 -5.00 pm
Pop-up storytelling installation 6 – 17 May 2014
A first for Swindon Central Library – artist in residence; an arts/literature event linking with Swindon Festival of Literature.

“You are invited to join me, multi-media artist Jill Carter, in exploring Curious Narratives.  Enjoy behaving badly with books!

You will find me and artist friend Julie installed in the Travel Section at Central Library till Friday 9 May, with lots of creative stuff and tales of travels near and far.  Lots of library visitors, from 3 to 84 year olds, with a huge variety of backgrounds, interests, cultures, stories, have enjoyed joining in by creating 3-d storytelling with a travelling museum of possibilities, collections of curiosities which you can arrange inside a diorama,a photograph documents the scene , and can be submitted to the SCL digital pages.

Also, although we adore books and usually take great care with them, we have been having huge fun doing unusual things with a gifted box of old books, altering pages and transforming front covers, sharing ideas, capturing comments and creating quirky off the wall ‘first editions’.  Come and add your very own book to our expanding books arts gallery, but be quick, we are here, for one week only, with the pop-up installation of created books by artist and visitors shown till 17 May.”
