Be the hero for Bookstart 2014
National Bookstart Week, which runs from the 9th to 16th June, is an annual celebration of Bookstart, the flagship reading programme from national charity Booktrust.
Bookstart aims to help every child in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to develop a lifelong love of reading that will give them a flying start in life through gifting free books to every child. This year millions of families across the UK coming together to discover stories, rhymes and reading.
Libraries in Swindon will holding story times with a My Hero theme, while the Bookstart Bear will also make an appearance.
Children are being encouraged to visit their local libraries dressed as their favourite super hero book character. They can also bring along their special hero, whether it be their dad, mum, or grandparents or a special cuddly super hero toy.
There will also be an opportunity for children to join the Bookstart Bear Club and those who attend will have the chance to pick up some souvenirs from each of the events.
The Bookstart Bear will visit special half an hour long story times at the following libraries:
• Pinetrees Library – Monday, 9 June at 10.15am
• Wroughton Library – Tuesday, 10 June at 10.30am
• Liden Library – Thursday, 12 June at 10.30am
• Park Library – Friday, 13 June at 10am
• Central Library – Saturday, 14 June at 11am
• West Swindon Library – Monday, 16 June at 11am
