Author, poet, artist and photographer Mandy Thomas is a justice advocate and media commentator for domestic violence. She is a ‘Survivor Ambassador’ for Women’s Aid, raising awareness and funds for domestic violence. In 2014 Mandy was awarded the ‘Women of Power Award’ by Marie Hanson, CEO of STORM. She was also awarded the ‘Grace House Honour Award’ and is now Patron for ‘Breaking the Silence’ run by Raj Holness (www.btsuk.org).
Today, Mandy continues to fight for justice and her book, You Can’t Run, (published by Penguin/Random House), is a memoir of real-life horrific events, in which she aims to help others be free of abuse. Mandy has been a chief advisor to script writers of the very popular Radio 4 programme The Archers for their current controversial storyline of domestic abuse which has attracted considerable media attention and has created much discussion and debate about the issues raised by domestic abuse and violence.
